Lip blushing is a semi-permanent tattoo that can enhance the color and shape of your lips and give the impression of more fullness. This is done by depositing color ink into your lips and along your lip line to improve the overall look. The color is subtle to give natural-looking results.

Pre-care is very important when it comes to achieving healed results that you are proud to show off!
Exfoliate: For 5 days prior to your appointment, we recommend that you gently exfoliate your lips daily using a lip exfoliant. Lip Exfoliators can be purchased at your local beauty department store, or made at-home. Here are some examples of Do It Yourself Lip Scrubs
Cord Sores: If you are susceptible to developing cold sores, we recommend that you receive an antiviral prescription from your doctor prior to your appointment. Also, please inform your artist of your condition while completing your Client Intake Form.
In addition, here is a list of things to avoid prior to your Lip Blush procedure:
Avoid alcohol 24hours prior to your appointment.
Avoid caffeine 24hours prior to your appointment.
Avoid Advil (or other blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Niacin) for 48hours prior to your appointment.
Avoid waxing of upper lip and tanning beds 72hours prior to your appointment.
It is recommended to wait 4 to 6 weeks after receiving Lip Filler Injections
IMPORTANT: if you are taking prescription blood thinners or are on an aspirin regimen please consult your physician prior discontinuing use of your medication.

Following your Lip Blush procedure it is important that you follow the post-care requirements outlined by your artist. Failure to follow post-care instructions can results in improper healing & poor colour retention.
FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS:
Keep your lips hydrated, regularly apply the After Care Lip Balm provided to you
Avoid spicy and oily foods as they can irritate the lip area
Avoid kissing (this includes partners, children and pets)
When showering; keep shower time short, and avoid direct contact with lips. If contact occurs, don’t panic - proceed to gently pat the lip area dry with a clean tissue once you are finished showering.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, tanning beds, exposure to prolonged periods of direct sunlight.
If you need to clean the lips, you may use fragrance-free- baby wipes. Gently wipe the area to remove previously applied aftercare ointment, and the re apply a new, thin layer of ointment to the lip area.
Avoid touching the lips unnecessarily; PLEASE DO NOT scratch, rub, or or pick at the chapping the may develop. This is a normal phase of the healing process.
REMINDER:
Cosmetic Tattoo services often require 2 sessions in order to achieve the most desirable results.
We recommend that you schedule a Re-Touch Appointment 4 to 6 weeks after your first session.

Lip Blushing lasts between 2 to 3 years. The colour of your Lip Blush will gradually soften and fade over time.
Annual touch-ups are recommended to maintain desired results.
Your age and lifestyle factors; such as the foods you consume, personal hygiene routines, and the amount of exposure to direct sunlight can impact the colour retention of your Lip Blush. Your artist can answer any questions you have related to long-term aftercare of your lip blush as it can vary from client to client.

It is normal for you lips to appear darker in colour for the first few days following the service. As the lips heal it is normal for the lips to appear dry and chapped. Apply lip balm regularly to keep lips hydrated and comfortable.
As the lips continue to heal the colour of the pigment will soften. This is normal in cosmetic tattoo procedures as the pigment is deposited in upper most layer of the skin. As a result, only some of the pigment will be retained, while some will be lost during the healing period.
It is important to follow the After Care instructions for the full 10 day period.
The colour of your lips will continue to “bloom” or over the next 2 to 3 weeks.
We recommend scheduling a Re-Touch Appointment 4 to 6 weeks after your first Lip Blush appointment. The Re-Touch Appointment is an opportunity to address any minor inconsistencies as a result of the healing process, and to refine or add more colour to your lips based on your satisfaction with the healed results.

In order to select the best colour for you we perform an initial assessment of your lips, taking into account the natural lip colour, the undertone and the overtone as well as your complexion and skin type.

It is true that pain tolerance will vary from client to client. When Lip Blushing is performed by a skilled cosmetic tattoo artist the pain level experienced should be minimal, as proper procedural techniques will reduce the amount of discomfort you experience throughout the service.
A topical anesthetic is typically applied for about 30 minutes to numb your lips. This will provide comfort during the initial stages of the procedure.
A secondary anesthetic (numbing gel) is applied throughout the procedure to continue to reduce pain/discomfort.
Following the Pre-Care Instructions given to you prior to your appointment will help to ensure the most comfortable experience.
Where possible we recommend to avoid scheduling your Lip Blush appointment during a time when you are mensurating, as the body can be more sensitive to pain during this time. -
